On our way from Grand Junction to SLC...(mom's I think we were parked taking this picture, there just happens to be some random semi parked behind us)
After shopping at Ikea, DownEast, Roberts, Sugarhouse District we found a little cupcake hole in the wall shop called "Mini Cupcakes". We decided to try Carrie's Cosmo and Breakfast at Tiffany's.
They were divine and we met one of the nicest people at Mini's Cupcakes. I say we met one of the nicest people there because we had an overall feeling that everyone in SLC were grumpy catfish.
Next we headed to the 9th and 9th shopping district. We found a couple cute boutiques and then headed to the hotel to check in.
After check in we went to an outdoor shopping mall, The Gateway. Also, had dinner at Z Tejas. We sat on a patio, enjoyed margaritas, munched on appetizers and people watched.
While out driving we noticed a lot of people camping out along the streets, over an expanse of like 8 miles. We were amazed at all of the people hanging out. So we stopped to ask what everyone was doing. They were saving their spots for a parade the next morning. What!?! Pioneer Days is a MAJOR holiday in the state of Utah. It is when Brigham Young traveled across the country and landed in SLC and basically built the city. Crazy people! You should have seen the people camping out the next day and night to see the fireworks!

When you told me you were going the 24th of July, I knew it would be crazy! Utahns take Pioneer Day very seriously. Too bad everyone seemed grumpy! They were probably just mad they couldn't camp out to watch the parade.
Sounds like you had a great trip. Did you find lots of good stuff to buy?
