Flashback Friday

Al and I met 12 years ago over July 4th weekend. We went white water rafting with mutual friends, Jason and Kim Miley, to Colorado. A whole crew of us loaded up in a borrowed mini-van and headed to the Arkansas River in Colorado. There was a total of like 12 of us which included Megan's husband Marc. We started the first day down the river and all camped by the river bank.

Some memorable events of the trip include:

-Al forgetting our tents under the seats in the van. It was his job to get them.
-Al sleeping in a tree that had fallen down. While I slept on the raft.
-I was fishing with a couple of the other rafters down by the bank and I caught a brown trout. I took it off the line and proceeded to give it a kiss. Al told me months later that he saw me do all that and said it was love at first sight.
-Rafting down the level 4-5 rapids the second day. We all made it but an Air Force Academy raft came down with everyone out and all their "AFA" gear floating.
-Going to an optional clothing hot spring in Fountain, Colorado. Needless to say my soon to be hubby was the first to take it all off.
-Some other "crooked" things and unique uses of noodles.
-Fireworks while in the hot spring.
-Mad Dog...followed by getting friendly with a no trespassing sign.
-Kim and I using the um, restroom...while facing up hill. Which later caused me to roll back into a cactus on my bum.
-Asking the next morning why my bum hurt all over.
-NO air conditioning driving back across the great state of Kansas in July. Fun stuff!

When we all arrived back I left a message on Al's phone, when I knew he was at work!Asking him out on our first date for that Friday night. He said yes...

The rest is history....

* I just read this post after I put it up here. Noodles, AKA floatation device, long styrofoam thing used in pools. I know I have dirty minded people reading this. Just had to clarify.

Was it love at first sight with you when he stripped down?

I knew my brother was had...when you guys arrived at mom and Dad's house and he pulled me to the side and said "meg, she kissed a fish, it was awesome!" (pointing at Kerri). I am so glad my brother got so excited about some girl kissing a fish because now I have an amazing sister-in-law! Ker, thanks for being so "cool" and kissing a fish! Love ya, Meg

p.s. Marc and I still laugh about the "crooked" things!
