Gage Park

We went to Gage Park a couple times while we were in Topeka. I love the park. We went last September for the first time. I think it's going to be a requirement every time we are in Topeka now. We rode the train again around the park. It's about a 10 minute ride. But you see the whole park and all of the pretty flowers.

We promised the girls we would ride the carousel. I had to strap Lauryn down she was fighting and crying when I was putting her on the ride. You can see how much she hated it...

Look we found the characters for the Wizard of Oz!

Puppies

Ronna and Galen's Jack Russell Terrier, Mabeline, had 9 puppies on July 31st! Ronna made sure to keep them all until the girls arrived and were able to play with them. They were so stinkin cute!

Lily is our little animal whisperer, as Al calls her. She loved the puppies. This was her favorite. He was the runt and we called him Jack.

Lauryn played a bit with the puppies. We just had to keep a watchful eye. The one she was holding is actually the one we had planned on bringing home with us. We had it planned to surprise the girls the last day of our trip and bring it home with us. Al and I contacted the airline, had a carrier, leash and collar. Ronna called us a couple days before we were due to depart. We had to have a vet sign off on a medical waiver. The vet said according to USDA (I think that dept) a puppy had to be at least 8 weeks to fly. These little guys were only 5.5. Major bummer!! So no puppy for the Galvin's....yet.

Landree and another puppy. She finally warmed up to them. She is not much of an animal fan. How can you not hold them? They are too cute!

Deanna Rose Farm

We went to the Deanna Rose Farmstead in Kansas City. I had heard a lot about it from friends. It is free to get in and they have activities through-out the park that are very inexpensive. I think we spent less than $10 for the 3 hours we spent there and we rushed through it! If you ever go through KC with kids it is well worth the stop!

The girls were checking out the map.

Our first "activity" was panning for gems. The girls got a little bag full of rubies, emeralds and sapphires.

We checked out the dairy barn.

We fed baby goats milk. Lauryn was crying and complaining because she wanted the bottles of milk. She was throwing an absolute fit! She hasn't had a bottle of milk in almost a year. So funny!

Lauryn also caught her first fish!

Landree and Lily went for a ride on a horse.

We saw lots of pretty flowers!

And Lauryn rode on Daddy's back!

Godparents

Ronna and Kevin are Landree's Godparents. She thought it was pretty special they were both with her.

Reception

This is a huge picture post.

This described the night...magical. Ginny made the comment that it was the first wedding she had been at when the couple danced their first dance with all the kids dancing around. I didn't think anything of it. I knew that's how Ronna would have wanted it.

I was trying to get Lauryn in the picture. She refused but as you can see she's in the background still "cheese-n".

Lily and Uncle Kevin, Al's best friend from high school.

Towards the end of the night Ronna took a break. I love how Lily is mid-air dancing for her.

Wedding

The wedding and reception was at an old theater in downtown Manhattan, Kansas.

Ronna wanted "her" kids to be a special part of the wedding. There was 8 flower girls and 4 ring bearers.

Almost everyone...I think Lauryn was having a meltdown at about this time.

My beautiful girls...

Al and the bride. Ronna was Al's neighbor when he was going to college at K-State. We have been friends for a long time. She was also a bridesmaid in our wedding.

The flower girls being brides.

My other beautiful little girl.

High Jump

We just came back from our summer vacation in Kansas. Our main purpose in going back was to go to our friends Ronna and Galen's wedding. Their rehearsal was at Lake Elbo in Manhattan. The evening was a bit warm and sticky so Al took the girls swimming.

Lauryn climbed up onto the tallest platform and proceeded to jump off a few times. Such a brave girl!

And then they all jumped!
