Lou has been going to Paradise Community Center for track break. They have a large water slide that Lou has be dying to go down. Today was the day. Technically you have to be 48 inches tall, she's about 46 1/2. It's been a bummer but they let her go down it "like 12 times" today.
In the car I tossed my phone back to her and had her call Dad to tell him she got to slide, finally. At the end of the conversation she hung up the phone. This is where the story gets good. "Mommy I want a cell phone"
"excuse me, a what?"
"a cell phone. All of my friends have one".
"friends at Paradise?" (the kids at the center look older)
"No, my friends at Aggie-Roberts"
Who?"
"Sophia, Rayna, Molly, Sydney..."
I just laughed- Are you kidding me? My girl just turned 6 years old! She has 3 more weeks of kindergarten left. What exactly does a 6 year old need with a phone??? Wholey Moley- I'm in for it.
Do your children have cell phones or have they requested one? What is the right age now? I was hoping to hold off until at least high school!

Wow...I was definitely 15 before I got my first cell! And I was only allowed to call mom!! Try to hold off for a few years!!! Funny conversation, though!!
Megan's birthday is next week and all she has requested is a cell phone. I am not getting her one. I have no idea who she would even call. Her best friend does have one, so I think that has contributed to her desire.
